September 2009
Both this news and myself as St Ronan's Family Worker are like the new kid on the block. It is very much a learning and growing experience but exciting at the same time as the possibilities and dreams are limitless. Unfortunately my role is restrained to 5 hours per week and one year!
As a beginning, what are the areas in which I am mainly involved?
The main areas are:
supporting and participating in the children's ministry Power Hour (3-12 years) and family events
connecting with families through Power Hour and Mainly Music
growing the Dream Team as a preliminary to doing a church Kids Friendly review
advocating the establishment of a Kids Friendly branded church
liaising with the national PCANZ Kids Friendly coach Jill Kayser, our Minister Sa and Parish Council.
I am looking forward to building interesting connections and actions with you and for us all. I also am interested in hearing your ideas and views as this adventure is very much a creative experience by us all. Please call me when you have time (568-5747).
Shalom from Susan Connell
Update - March 2010
In a two-year process our Kids Friendly Dream Team have started the review to assess, set goals and strategies to achieve the Presbyterian Church branding of "Kids Friendly". Last year finding team members took longer than expected. Now we need more team members as Rev Sa is leaving, and to add two more is wise. We look for those with a young family background and /or connections to church management.
Contact Susan Connell on Sundays in the Blue Room if you would like to be involved.
